Opening Plenary Panel: Nobody, Somebody, My body: the Mandate for Maternal Equity and Justice

Ballroom

This session seeks to make visible the often unseen and unacknowledged history that continues to impede equity and justice for women, as related to personal autonomy, systemic practices and cultural norms. Concepts such as planned pregnancy and pregnancy intendedness will be deconstructed and viewed through a lens of equity and justice. Strategies for mediating the unanticipated negative consequences of these and other normative practices will be discussed, including narrative, power, and systems change.
