Mistel de Varona is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She has the honor of serving WIC families at the Berrien County Health Department. Roles include; Breastfeeding Peer Coordinator, Lactation Consultant, Founder and Chair of the Berrien County Breastfeeding Coalition, Breastfeeding Support Group Facilitator and founding member of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Advancement Team.
Mistel operates with the view that breastfeeding is a health equity and social justice issue. She is driven to support families to meet their individual feeding goals and to make informed decisions based on evidence. Reducing disparities by breaking down barriers, normalizing breastfeeding and systems change is her ongoing passion.
