Melissa Limon-Flegler, BSW

Melissa Limon-Flegler currently serves as the Michigan Maternal Mortaltiy Surveillance (MMMS) Project Coordinator in the Maternal Child Health Epidemiology Section at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. She is responsible for project management, timely completion of case reviews, documentation of findings and recommendations, and is an integral part of the development, prioritization and implementation process.

Melissa brings over 15 years of experience in injury and violence prevention, working in different capacities on projects focused on: improving community health and equity through primary prevention; conducting outreach and facilitating collaboration with community-based organizations and stakeholders; analyzing legislative and systemic activity impacting victims and survivors as well as educating policy makers; and promoting awareness of barriers facing underserved and un-served populations.

She is passionate about improving health outcomes for women, children, and their families and is committed to efforts which are aimed at advancing holistic maternity service delivery, policy, and systems change.
