Colleen Klus is the Parent Liaison with Success by 6 Great Start Collaborative, which brings together over 40 organizations in Washtenaw County to strengthen early childhood programs and services and to reduce disparities for low income children, and children of color. As the Parent Liaison, Colleen supports and elevates parent voice in order to ensure programs and services in Washtenaw County best serve families. Colleen also co-designed the Trusted Parent Advisor Initiative in 2017 with Margy Long, director of Success by 6 Great Start Collaborative. She continues to act as coordinator of the initiative. The Trusted Parent Advisor Initiative creates change in Washtenaw County through grassroots community organizing. Trusted Parent Advisors are leaders in their community who create change through building trust with families and empowering parents to voice their family needs to organizations and agencies.
Colleen has a Master of Public Administration from Eastern Michigan University. Colleen has a passion for helping parents with young children advocate for their families and to offer opportunities for families to support one another on their parenting journey. She attempts to incorporate a lens of equity, inclusion and social justice in all she does.
